This was my point on an eariler TSA post. While there is absolutely no link established between this "gun totin' bear" and any terrorist, who really thinks that these folks are hesitant to use children and the elderly to further their cause?

Reminds me of a trip I took about 3 months ago. I was traveling by ticket with my sisters little girl, she is 7. She had a teady bear in her arms and we were going through security and the TSA guy asked her if there was anyting inside her teady bear, she said BONES, well he though she said BOMBS, I thought they were going to call out the swat team on her and slap the cuffs on her until they were done searching her. They tore her bags apart and ran her teady bear through the x-ray twice just to make sure. They practically stripped searched her patted her down and after about 10 min of constant searching let her pass.

I guess the terrorist are using a lot of 7 year olds to bomb airplanes now. I had to make sure and tell her to not ever say anything that even sounded like bomb around the TSA, poor thing she didn't know what she had done wrong and she was scared to death, then after showing them my ID to try and calm the situation a little, I got the run around cause I actually had a ticket and wasn't jumpseating. Wow what a day.

Has anyone heard any follow up to this story? I just can't believe that there isn't more.

The coincidence required for this to have "just happened" is too much for me to accept.

enigma

simple,
potential terrorists overheard parents were flying to Ohio, gave kid a bear with a gun in it, were hoping to take it from kid inflight and use it to hijack it
pretty stupid, knowing that everyone walks through the "arches" and the gun would have set it off anyway
but, then again, maybe they were testing it to see if the system works

A loaded gun hidden in a teddy bear isn't a co-inky-dink.
