It's Forbes's.

What was that about the liberal media again?

http://www.mathsisfun.com/mean.html

So one pilot makes 280,000 a year.
5 pilots make 35,000 a year.

280000 + 35000 + 35000 + 35000 + 35000 + 35000 = 455,000

455,000 / 6 = 76,000

Thus the 'Average' pilot makes 76,000 a year.

Probably the number you want is the mode and that is probably something like 20 to 30K a year.

If you are only counting the Majors / LCCs, then that number is likely accurate. If you mold in the regionals, then no way.

The data came from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics...here's the data for 2010...

http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes532011.htm

This does nothing to further your argument of a non-liberal bias, it just illustrates your ignorance.

Ok- now do me a favor?
Click on both links- yours and the Forbes one.

Notice a discrepancy?

Yeah- the bls chart shows mean annual wage of $117k, Forbes shows $140.3k

The bls data doesn't seem right to me and Forbes still inflated it 25% or so. Real fair and balanced there....

I still question the bls #, there's no way after all the outsourcing that the bottom 10% average $56k. I would also like to see what these numbers include.
