I feel your pain. As the co-owner of this team, we need to get back on the ice. This was the only thing that got me through these long overnights and winters. Now I just stare at the wall. Do you think the sprinkler head in a hotel room will hold rope or 160lbs. I have written this year off, but Team Napoleon will return to the finals next year. Say Hi to my co-owner, DH.-kinger

I'm not especially hopeful that today's meeting in the NY area will yield any results. I think though that the owners really have the ultimate power to hammer an agreement. The players made a huge concessionary offer back in December that the league rejected. I also suspect that there's a fracture developing among the owners, in particular the big vs. the small-market teams. Remember, it only takes 8 owners to reject any new agreement so even if the smaller-market teams like Calgary, Columbus and Edmonton want to accept an offer, a small group of teams along the lines of the Wings and Rangers (with substantially deeper pockets) can reject a tentative agreement if it doesn't meet their own desires for "cost certainty".

By the way, isn't it ironic to see the players to see the players talking about unity and standing up for each other while so many of them scurry off to Europe, Russia and even minor leagues in North America and take jobs away from other hockey-playing "brothers"? Sadly, there's enough bad vibes for the owners, the league, the NHLPA and the players themselves.

Personally, I'm looking forward to moving back to the Midwest in a few weeks and being able to attend some ECHL and UHL games.
