Likelihood of NetJets Going Back To Gateways?

I have been really excited about working towards a shot at achieving a pilot slow with NJ and am thrilled that things came out pretty positive in the TA...however...one of the things that really pleased me about the place was the opportunity for me to live back home. Obviously that is no longer a possibility.

What are the odds they will go back to the Gateway system for new hires?

Sorry to be blunt, but, the company really thinks that having pilots at domiliciles is the economic answer to their prayers! So much so, that they will pay pilots to move to a domicile and pay their parking!

If you want to work here, take the interview, then see if you can make a deal. If not, you haven't lost anything. Consider a move for a few years...It may pay off if this place turns out to be the real deal pilot career. DONT let the company pay for your move! once you let them...you will never have access to the home based airport deal.

If the numbers of prospective pilots who turn down offers based on domiciles increases to a point that they really can't fill slots you could see them expanding gateways as they did from the Original Dallas gateway. It's always in the numbers.
 
Change is inevitable, but way too early to tell when it'll happen. Even when company realizes the error of their ways, it'll take months for anyone to admit they made a mistake. All to our advantage though. When management comes crying uncle for a change to this rediculous policy, it'll cost them. No one gets something for nothing, as we have all learned in the last four years. 1108 knows how to play that game too.

That said, how many of those in the 121 carriers get to live where they want without commuting? All have limits, although jump seat priviledges help. You still go to and from work on your time and dime though. It's a gamble, but for those offered a position at NJA, I'd take the gamble and get in while the gettin's good.

Just curious, what would you give up to get the gateways back? Money, schedule, healthcare? As you said, you don't get something for nothing.
 
Perhaps you don't understand - those of us at NJA now are grandfathered and allowed to use HBA (homebasing) so we dont use gateways - instead we live at home. New hires are using the 5 gateways (domiciles, whatever you want to call them) of LAX, PBI, TEB, DAL, and CMH. The line of thinking here is that the company will be unable to staff properly under this limited basing scheme and will come to us and say "we need to change the contract". To which the union will hopefully reply "sure! What are you going to give us to agree to it?". That make more sense?

Uh, it's the other way around. They will need the relief, not us. The question is "what do WE want"?
 
Are newhires assigned gateways or do they pick between LAX, PBI, TEB, DAL and CMH?
 
We were told in our interview that for the first 6 months the company will allow new hires to choose your Domicile. Once they start to fill up then they will begin assigning you to one of the five.
