On what day of the week do you start/finish a trip? Is it always the same day of the week?

M through F are start days. Your specific day depends on your fleet. Yes, you always start on the same day.

Address listed/120 minutes from Domicile

I have a question regarding your residence and its relation to your domicile. The company website clearly states that you must reside within 120 minutes from your domicile. The question that I have is is possible to list an address that is within the 2 hour rule (from a buddy of yours or possibly a relative) and have an actual home that is around 2.5 hours drive from your domicile?

Do some pilots do this? If so, do you ever have any scheduling conflicts where the company calls you out to start a tour and you must be there within 2 hours exactly? Does the company generally give you plenty of heads up the day before so that you can plan to leave a little earlier to start your trip?

DL, no, YOU must live within 2 hours. No exceptions to the rule. 2 hours on mapquest, yahoo maps, google earth, or some other map search engine. Thats the way it goes.

I have heard that they will allow the use of a map program that allows you to adjust speed lmits to realistic values that acuts a good bit off of the drive time. I do not know the name of that program. Maybe someon on here does.

yeah, im not sure of that, but ill see what I can find out.

Though you'd probably be fired if caught. I know of a couple of pilots at Shares that use the address of friends that are within the two hour policy(their names are........Just kidding, I'll never tell). Just make sure you use that address for all paperwork and training documents you have to fill out. They have fired a person or two who they caught living else where.

It seems like a crazy policy at first. To me it seem like as long as I make it to my base on Day 1 on time why can't I live elsewhere. The reason I was told by others was because the FAA doesn't want a pilot to drive 4 hours to work and then work a 14 hour duty day or the reverse at the end of tour (work 14 hours and then drive 4 hours home). Most of us are smart enough to get there the night before to make sure we're well rested, but the few dummies out there ruin it for everyone.

I worked there for two years and left recently for greener pastures in the Part 91 world, but it is a good place overall.

funny how netjets operates under the same FAA and a pilot can drive 20 hours and then fly 14hrs of duty. interesting how CS says its because of the FAA but the FAA has no problem with the way NJ handles it. For years, and now with new hires we have pilots commuting again.

How hard would it be to get Denver (APA?) as a newhire?

If thats you in the picture it will be very easy. Seriously speaking we don't bid on a base you get whatever you want.

Weird how the FAA doesn't apply this logic to any other airline or fractional?

It's just a way for them to let you know who's in charge.

Plan on 1-2 days of OT a month, OT is good becuase you can kinda controll "extra" income.

lates

You really can't "control" the overtime. You volunteer for days and the company uses you if they want. Most of the time you don't know if you're going to get the overtime until your flying partner gets his go-home info and you don't. If you want to play the "kiss scheduling’s rear" game then you'll undoubtedly get more overtime. On occasion you'll get forced into overtime as they'll fly you into BFE at 8pm and then act surprised they're not able to airline you out.

Thanks guys. That's my g/f and her friends on that picture.
