My CFI renewal is due Sept 2003. I recently went to the local FSDO to have my licenses reissued due to a change of address. Now my CFI ticket has a expiration date of June 2004.

Anyone have any experience with this? Sounds like I just got an extra 9 months for free...

Sounds like the Inspector did you a favor and "renewed" your Certificate (Remember it is a Certificate, not a license, you aren't a Licensed Flight Instructor, you are a Certified Flight Instructor)...

OK, so I am being anal... sue me... ;)

Or certifiable...

You are correct. I was being lazy with my terminology.

English,

Are you looking at the document expiration on the front of the ticket or the privilege expiration on the back? In June, I had my certificate numbers changed to remove my SS# from them. My CFI ticket was renewable in July of this year. When I got the new CFI ticket, the front had an expiration sometime in the future (can't remember how far out), but the back did have July 31, 2002 specifically listed as the expiration of privileges.

Check to make sure yours isn't the same.

Yeah, it's on the back...expires now 9 months later than when it should have been.
