Level D Sim Time

Does anyone know if you can log Level D sim time as "total time" or is it "flight simulator time"??

You'll get varying responses...but simulator time isn't flight time. You should leave it out of any of your totals. It's not single engine, multi engine, PIC, SIC, or total time. It's just simulator time.

If you want to keep track of it, keep track of it all by it's lonesome.

You need to have an instructor present (who must sign your logbook) if you want to log the time at all and count it toward currency, training, or a certificate or rating. However, it's not flight time, and it shouldn't be found in any of your totals.

Straight from the Federallies... Sim time can ONLY count for Sim time and you must also count it as dual received...

As a Sim instructor you can only count sim time as instruction given...

Sim time does not count for any other time...

I know I'm basically reiterating the last post but I have this information first hand having recently dealt with a similar question...

Thanks for this thread. I dont know how many times i have had to explain this concept to some of the people i have worked with. Sim=Sim and Flight=Flight

It's actually pretty easy. The FAR defines "flight time" as something that takes place in am "aircraft," "a device that is used or intended to be used for flight in the air."

So, unless you drop that Level D sim off a roof with you in it...
