Letter of Request

Does any one know how to write a letter of request to the FAA to add international operations (specifically the Bahamas) on to your certificate? Thanks in advance.

Are you a Basic Operator or Single Pilot or Single Pilot-in-Command? They way it was explained to me was that to get approvals outside the CONUS, you had to be at least a Basic. When we upgraded from Single PIC to Basic in addition to the tons of paperwork that it generated, we just mentioned in conversation with the POI that we would be looking for Eastern Caribbean approval. Technically you are also supposed to seek economic approval from the countries you will be going to (I don't believe enforced unless you do inter-country (cabatoge?) charter legs - I could be wrong). Any expert advice?

Otherwise if you want to make an official request, I'm sure the content is buried somewhere in the 8400 Inspectors handbook.

We're a full 135. We also spoke with the POI and he didn't have anything against us going to the islands. I just want to make sure I get this right. I've just reciently been given the task of handling the paperwork with the feds. I think buried is the right term for dealing with the 8400 handbook.
