Look, I'd say by the EC's actions that the issues are decided. Whether you agree with them or not the war is over. Lets declare peace and start working together.

We still all have jobs and we have some GREAT negotiating power right now thanks to record profits, so, lets fight together for a better contract for all and be the first carrier to return the profession to what it once was.

As for USAPA, they remind me of the Japanese soldiers in the PI's who still fought the war long after it ended. Don't listen to 'em. They will keep you broke and tired.

We have a great opportunity in front of us. Let's mend the fences and get back to solidarity. Our quarrel is with management and shouldn't be with each other.

Noble post Grog. I agree the Executive Council's 4 rulings certainly tie the knots a little tighter. But I think too much water is over the dam now. I keep hoping for a chance at reason. I've seen some East guys still wearing the "coast to coast" badge backer, so I know there are some reasonable guys over there. Problem is that the AAA MEC Leadership is "hell bent for change" and the AAA rank and file is along for the ride. No serious effort over there to recall and my bet is that the USAPA action will pass. They will be stuck in their wage quagmire for another 36 months. We will still have the raise we got in January, but management is the only one to benefit from the record profits for the time being. The East action will keep the West pilots and all ALPA Pilots from capturing the momentum of record profits and restoring the substantial cuts of the last 6 years. Every airline pilot is impacted since we are the first airline up in the queue for a post 9/11 ALPA-negotiated contract.

I'm still predicting that Parker and Kirby will not allow the East pilots to drag the operation down. They will figure out how to transfer East metal to the West (if needed), hire more West guys in order to fly the East metal with deadhead legs to and from PHX/LAS (even with East FAs, once we go single certificate), or some other creative Management Technique in the event these guys go totally mental. Once we go one certificate, it is going to get real blurry about whose jet you are flying. They are all US Airways Metal in 10 days and what group of contract pilots operates them is a moot point. I expect ALPA to dig in the spurs to get the East guys to play ball. If East Pilots don't want to play in the ALPA sandbox, I think they will find themselves outside the playground with very little opportunity to initiate change.

Cinch up your saddle Grog .... we are in for the trail ride of our lives.

East metal to the west side? Are you kidding? It's not even being done with the new aircraft deliveries, and the cost to transfer an aircraft from one certificate to another is absurd. Just ask SkyWest and their stunt with ASA's 700's. Out of 12 that were to be taken, only 4 made it, due largely to cost. Also, if the east is cheaper (and they are) it is bargaining power for Parker. No way are aircraft leaving East for West.

The east is not cheaper. EVERY east pilot ( sans the couple hundred recalls that actually came back) is at top of the pay scale and their 757 guys make more than the west guys.

The cheaper arguemant does not wash. Especially if the east tantrum messes with the operation, which it is.

Is the niceness in response of the letter put out by your MEC to play nice with the EAST guys, because he's going to be in a representation fight fairly soon??? Just curious....

No. I'm just over it, seriously tired of the East vs West when our fight needs to be with mgmnt.

And in light of the resolutions passed by the EC at the last meeting now even ALPA National will begin moving towards ending this standoff with the East.

It might be time for all concerned to reconcile. The East's points are pretty much dead at this point and I'd like a new contract and a pay raise. This won't happen until the East ALPA comes back and truly begins negotiating.

This is something I've been waiting to write until after the EC ruled this week. Johnny Mac's message is coincidental.

Certificate will be merged in a few days.

On Sept 26 the west will be operating on the East certificate, hence transfering a/c is no longer an issue.

Keep up, would ya !!!
