You can't lock in a contract in today's world. Bankruptcy judges have the power to void contracts and prevent strikes. ALPA is not willing to illegally go on strike which leaves us open to the mercy of the company.

Bankruptcy judges have always had that key, but if you are facing cuts, it's always best to start from as high a level as possible. And until BK happens, you do benefit from the contract improvements.

Why don't they just sell Comair and dump all the pilots like they did in your wet dream. Delta is lost and confused, management doesn't know what to do except lose money hand over fist trying to put Airtran and Jetblue out of business.

With oil at $110+, all airlines will start to feel the pinch. I think the reduction of Comair flights is very likely because the 50-seat RJs are uneconomical in this environment. Anyone who disagrees with that is just not realistic. Yeah, all of us will feel the pinch soon enough.
