I also was with a 121 airline and left for corporate. Couldnt be happier. I was 250 out of 2000 but commuting. The quality of life being based at home is priceless. Probably wouldnt go back. Got an opportunity to interview as street captain with Virgin America and turned it down. My concerns were that I would be a$$ kissing and serving drinks. Most professional departments do not operate with this mentality. In my case, I'm even considered a management employee with associated benefits. Pax are extremely cool and flying is nice. No commuting espenses, no meal expenses, pension, good time off, the bene's are too numerous to list. NO 121 airline, regional or major can touch it. Like the other guys said, it depends on what your priorities are. If you don't have a burning desire to fly the heavy iron then go corporate all the way. Hope it helps. Just make sure it is a stable, established department. Definitely ask your friend what he says and weigh it against what his QOL issues were.
