Hey there guys. One of my former students has been a Captain at Gulfstream for the last two years. He is considering leaving to another regional in order to obtain jet time.

I told him that I thought it made more sense to stay where he is at and continue to build turbine PIC time rather than fly right seat in a jet for the next 3 to 5 years.

I am looking for opionions as to whether or not a major airline would rather see turbine PIC time or SIC in a jet. If you were in this situation, what would you do?

I have read all of the negative complaints about Gulfstream, so I don't need to hear everyone's opinion on Gulfstream and pay for training. Any insights on what my friend should do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Ask him where he would like to eventually end up. Jetblue? Southwest? A major if any are left? Jetblue, I believe, doesn't accept time from airplanes at a certain weight. Southwest likes PIC time. Ask him where he would LIKE to be eventually. I would tell him to stick it out a couple more months at Gulfstream (atleast through the cold Winter) and get as much PIC time before hunting for a jet job.

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:
