We're taking delivery soon on a 60, and it's off to London.

For you 60 drivers out there in the Northeast, have been doing Goose Bay and then to London?

And how about the return? London-Kef-then a new england stop?

It doesn't appear the 60 will do London-Goose.

Additionally, does the 60 have a wet foot print every day to Hawaii? Or is it doable?

thanks.

never did it in a 60..

but had the unfortunate job of doing it in a 35 and a Westwind.

NY-Goose-BIKF-London.

was glad did the kef stop as wound up holding and 2 approaches to get into London due to the fog (imagine that).

my advice, just do the BIKF stop. your flight time will be the same because you can fly fast without sweating the fuel..

Are you RVSM?
I was not on one flight...went across at FL250. That was fun.

:(

GOOD LUCK.

P.S. tell the owner to buy a plane that is capable of the trip...:D

hehe...

dude, you know well enough that as soon as the boss gets an airplane that'll do 3000 nm non-stop, he's gonna want to do a 4000 nm trip!!!

yup.

All you can do is buy the biggest g'dam thing out there...

after flying a Lear to Europe and back all I had to say was...."please god, never again"...
LETO-EINN-BIKF-CYYZ-KHPN-KPHL.
had a sore a$$ for a week.

The boss will only do that trip ONCE. guaranteed. After the claustrophobia sets in in that Lear and the bills from Europe come in...it will be British or Virgin sleeper class from then on. Learjets are good to go to Florida, not London.

Save 6 hours and about $50K...fly the airlines.

:D

If you think Europe to the US is bad you ought to try Australia to California, the short way, in a Lear. Now that is an interesting trip.

I do second the stop in KEF, the comfort you get with the extra fuel is nice. I also suggest that you don't use Greenland for a fuel stop. Narsarsuaq has one of the more interesting approaches.

Many years ago I did that North Atlantic in a Lear 25. So a 60 is more than capable enough. It just depends on how often he plans on doing it. Several times a year, you want something more comfortable. Once or twice a year, the 60 should do OK. The reality is, if he is happy and comfortable doing it that way, you have to live with it.

Speaking of US to Australia... how about from Oregon to Oz in a 36  Had a friend of mine do that trip... he also did Lisbon not too long before that, again from Oregon. Yikes!! Numb butt it is

edited because I can't spell this early in the morning

Goose - Nassarsuaq - KEF - the Hebridies. The longest leg as I remember it was approximately 790nm. You had to watch your step and proceed carefully. but it can be done.

How?

A better question than "How" is Why???

"Ours is not the reason why'...... Actually, I was moving it for a contract in Africa. It is not a bad trip. In those days you could hear Citation 1's and 2's making the same run. There used to be an operator in Europe that made at least one round trip a month on that route in a AC690 on a cargo run. He used that aircraft because of the material carried and the waivers involved.

The best one is the Australian Lear 24 operator that moved the aircraft to the US via Nadi, Christmas Island, Hilo and the Santa Barbara. He had 2 1200 pound fuel bladders in the cabin. Now that is a interesting trip.

The things we have done to pay the bills.................

:)

Actually it was an interesting trip. Especially Kartoum at 0200. They beat Signature hands down. They don't use a fuel truck, they use a T-60 tank to ensure you pay your bills.

It could be worst. I had a owner who would have me fly him to JFK and drop. He would get on the Concorde and I would fly the 35 over and meet him. I would then fly him through Europe and the Middle East. When he was ready to return, I would drop him at Heathrow and again he would get on the Concorde. And he would be waiting for me when I got to JFK to pick him up.

And for some reason he couldn't understand why I was so tired. But I couldn't get him to make the trip with us.
