Yes - night rain is the worst in the 40/45. I can remember one of those into APA, I think I took a year off of my life from wrecking my nerves on short final. (we briefed, discussed alt. plans, etc.).
I'll try all of the above and I'm glad to hear it isn't just me! I love the airplane, but I hate that glare/double effect - it's absolutly ridiculous.
