lear 20 type

Not many places left to get a Lear 20 type. You can get a 55 type at Flight Safety in PBI. Same type. Or go out to ICT flight safety and get a Lear 20 initial, but you will get the type in the 35. Will be differences training. Those guys out there are really good and know alot about Learjets. I always like going out there.

Flight Safety Atlanta does the type in the 31a it's the same type but that's quite a different airplane from the 25. Shoulda been a different type in my opinion.
 
Several Lear Jet series are covered under one type rating for the LR-JET. With that rating I believe you are covered in the 20, 30 and 55 series. I think the 45 and 60 are individual ratings.
 
simuflite in dallas has a lear 25 sim, if you think you are man enough to take the reins!

I was talking recently to a CFI that has a few hours in the right seat in a 25 and he says that the 20 series Lear will each your lunch due the amount of power they have. Also, I heard that they have a critical wing and if you go too fast you will mach tuck and on approach, it's easy to get into dutch roll and hit a wing tank on landing.

Tell your CFI friend to use the autopilot for the Mach Tuck and use the yaw damper untill the flare for the dutch roll. If you are still getting dutch roll with the damper on, you probably need a new damper.

you would have to be in a pretty good bank to drag the tanks on the ground.

Lear 31 is a different type from the Lr-Jet type because it doesn't have tip tanks.
 
LR-Jet Type covers:
All 20
All 30
All 50
series a/c.

Now, to the question.

ICT FSI has a 20 (read 25 series that can be converted to earlier 20 series a/c if necessary).

If you get the 20 series training remember this. If you decide to operate any other LR-Jet series a/c be ready to have to do an initial or a recurrent in that series. The INSURANCE Co.'s are keen to the LR-Jet type rating. And its differences.

The fact is this that you can fly 100 different lear's and fly 100 different lears.

The early 20 series is nothing like the late 20 series. The 20's are nothing (well sort'a) like the 30's (in particularly the 31a). The 30's are nothing like the 30's ... period ... you could not (be safe mind you) just jump in any ole' 30 series and go flying without a thorough check out or reading of the manuals and supplements. The 55 is a grown up 35a and is more like the 60 than the 20 series so how it is on one type and the 60 on a different one who knows.

After all of that.

Go to ICT FSI on lear jet way ave and ask for the 20 series training.

Its cheap and VERY GOOD.

Have fun and remember that you'll need to know what serial number you are flying and what mod's and supplements you have. It matters.

I love the 20 series. Of course I loved the early lears more. The 24 is a dream of a ride. Those GE-610's burn a lot of fuel but make one awesome sound.
