POH for the Archer states that for best power, lean until EGT peaks, then enrichen 100 degrees rich of peak. For best economy, lean until EGT peaks. Might be similar in terms of RPM, but I don't know for sure...
 
You can't really lean that far in an Archer though.... You'll hit your head on the window after about 6 inches.
 
Lean (the mixture :rolleyes: ) until RPM peaks and leave it...don't enrichen it. Top-off before you leave, and top off after you arrive, and see what the fuel burn will be. If you want reference materials on the engine, Lycoming publish procedures in little brown books...those are what to go by.

if you're in the air in a warrior, you go full throttle and pull the mixture back to get your desired RPM...simple :D
