For those of you who can view the web cast, LCC has posted the latest "Crew News" which gives DP's view of PSA's 90 seat pay rejection. Interesting stuff, especially when he said that "the day of flying for more pay because of more seats is over."

Access thehub.usairways.com at the top left hand corner of the home page under "Crew News."

Which one is it?

Just watched it.
"Just because you have more people behind you doesn't mean you should get paid more", "Its essentially the same airplane". DP

"just because you are a CEO of a large airline, doesn't mean you should get paid any more than a Manager of a Subway".

WTF?

Another step to motivate employees to save fuel. Good Job.

thats funny - you should email that to him.

The reason you get more pay is cause they can take in more revenue with more seats.Think of it as like a salesman. The more you bring in the bigger the cut.The CEO just is a greedy bastard that doesn't want to share.ALPA and others like to call it increased production but its really not.

My last job(except flight instructing) before I started at ASA was a Manager at Subway. I made about $5,000 more that year than I did my first year at ASA. Add into that free food and making my own schedule, I was much better off. Heck, even the uniform was paid for at Subway. But I gave it all up for the glamour of a 121 job. Had I only known...

with that attitude mr. parker is going to find himself a captain of an empty ship. he must be taking lessons from JO. scary stuff

of course, by extension, just because you have less seats behind you, doesn't mean you should be paid less. So I guess all the RJ operators should be paid the same as mainline pilots.

Funny how management only makes the argument that pay should be the same when they size of the airplane is going up, not when it's going down.

Bingo!

EXACTLY! If he wants to bring everything to the same payscale despite the size of the aircraft, it has to be fair on both ends. I'd be more than happy to fly my Saab for the rest of my life, provided it paid at least twice what it does now.

Later in the video he also spoke about Mainline pilot having signed an agreement with Management allowing the reduction in pay and loss of pensions. He went on to say that just because US Air is making money doesn't mean that he has to pay the pilots back. After all they signed the contract.

Well PSA also has a contract with Management, ours is for a blended rate for larger aircraft. Well management doesn't want to acknowledge that they too signed and accepted it.

Parker just likes picking and choosing the contracts he wants to abide by.

I think pilots on the America West side already get paid the same whether they are flying a 737, A320 or 757...

He actually contradicts himself, almost in the same sentence, when he makes exceptions for wide body vs. narrow body aircraft. Let's see, wide body = heavier airframe and wide body = more seats behind you. So, why is that ok, but 900 series vs. 700 series is different? Answer is ASMs, he says.

He admits he is talking "pilot heresy." But he also says he will fight the concept of bigger aircraft/bigger pay in negotiations.

Luckily we have the US Judicial system backing these management teams that can impose injunctions against any strikes, thereby taking away any power labor might have to defend their pay. Oh, wait, that's not a good thing. Remember the good ole' days where there used to be public hangings for S.O.B.s like DP? (sigh)

Way to go union, this the first time i have seen the regionals stand up and demand better..now don't cave and go get the money...

What a scumbag DP is! Thats a great way to motivate you emplyees! Saying that the days of more money for bigger equipment is over? WTF? Thats the same thing as saying to a doctor that your going to get paid the same amount for putting on a bandaid as you will for open heart surgery. My god, every day I am more and more convinced that I need to quit. This "career" has become such a joke and such a waste of life.

thats so ridiculous.......yeah the pay sucks, but we all know switching to this career is a much better one that staying on as a manager at subway.....there are better jobs out there than a pilot, but i assure a QSR manager isnt one of them (except In-n-out)

What I said was in jest. Obviously being a 121 pilot is a better career than managing Subway. I was just trying to illustrate that it's not that much better at times, and that's a sad thing.

you really think this is better? This sucks! terrible pay, terrible schedule, treated like garbage (for NWA people literally), your away from your family for half the year, there is no light at the end of the tunnel in site for this career. At least with subway you were home every night and could have some sort of a life. Personaly I think this flying for a living stuff is for the birds.

On another thread, it sounds like some of the FO's at Mesa are going to be serving JO some of his own medicine. I hope they realize we need a raise. I know several who already have their stuff in at Skywest/XJT and if we don't get these jets with a reasonable raise they will bail faster than management can cash a bonus check.

I would like to know what attrition costs us. I bet it is a lot. I wonder if Doug knows how much attrition costs us?

Punch...you are a perfect example...I hope you stick it out. I don't want to get JM'd to cover your trips.

Don't worry, I'm here for you man.

And for any other FO's who are getting run ragged lately, they are running classes of 8 every other week indefinitely. Hopefully we can get caught up and properly staffed soon.

That's true. Expect it to change when we get a combined contract with USAirways (East) in 2007.

Sorry man, my family deserves better. This is just no way to live. I'd rather be a weekend warrior and be with my family then live like this anymore. Now comes the question: what the hell do I want to do?

I want to sit in my Lazyboy, drink beer, barbeque ribs, and play with matches. I haven't found anyone to support my habit though. If I do, I'll offer some sponsorships to see if anyone can be more worthless than I.
