I was perusing airlinepilotcentral.com (bored on layover) and noticed FedEx reduced monthly credit hours to 48. What does this mean? Are guys only getting 48 hrs of pay per month now?

If so, ouch.

Yup. That's right. About a 36% pay cut in total. But at least they've got a job. Arguably one of the most stable aviation jobs around.

lots
fdx guarantee

Sorry, that is not quite correct. The guarantee for a 4 week bid period has dropped from 68 to 48...the lines are still being built to something higher than 48 but the company is not buying back the difference between the line value and the old 68 guarantee.

Line values across the fleets vary, but I believe the bus lines are something on the order of 62 hours.

I would say no job is secure if your at the bottom of the list. I would not want to be near the bottom at FedEx. They are fat on pilots and will be retiring the 727 (think 3 pilots) for something with 2 (think 757).

Actually...they brought a 72 out of the desert the other day...

They reported a 75% drop in earnings on friday (3/20) and a mention of cutbacks in the corporate release.

They're still making a profit though.

The key is, are your investors happy with that profit?

Perhaps if they cut their pay by 100% they could have a job for life.

Come on man. As tough as it is for everybody else out there they are doing a lot better than most other companies.
