Can anyone comment on the latest Alaska bid, has it been awarded (supposed to be Aug 6th), any surprises and will this still be effective 01 Jan 04? Bottom line... when will Alaska need to "make" new hires?

How many retirees in '04?

I'm bumping this post back to the top since I too would like to know what's the latest gossip around the water cooler at Alaska. Any rumor of new classes?

The bid has caused something like 106 training events and had no new growth. It seems like is touched virtually everyone in one way or another. I moved up 15 in the SEA base, on the August list. But Jan 1st, I move back 15. Most of the guys that moved over (to the 737) were the senior MD FOs from SEA. We also had several of the junior captains get downgraded. I bet that will be temporary.

As far a classes, I have not heard anything. I think the school house will be busy handling this training event. As a result. No new classes that I have heard of. I would guess, that once the concessions issue has been settled and training gets this bid under control, we will know more.

I hope this makes sense, I just finished a three day doing the california yo-yo...PDX, OAK and SNA.

Two questions!

I know that the LAX MD-80 base is gone.
Are their any 737 pilots still based in LAX?

Are your trips to Mexico "out and back," on the same day, or do you actually stay down there overnight?

Must be rough, MZT,PVR,LCB,LAP,GDL!!!
;)

Retirements

03 = 4
04 = 27
05 = 41
06 = 63
07 = 75
Then it drops to about 50 a year and holds fairly steady until I punch out in 29!
We have 1500 and change on the line right now.

I just read that the seniority list has 82 less folks on it in Janurary versus now. We also start having some large retirement numbers soon. The hiring will start, they are just attempting to squeezing us right now for concessions.

And we still have a 737 base in LAX. They increased the base by about 16 people.

Well this sounds like great info guys!

I think I witnessed a -200 pilot retiring in ANC about 5-6 weeks ago, he got the water canon salute. Can anybody confirm this was a retirement?
