I miss MN and Mesaba wasn't hiring when I was ready. Let's say if I was in one of the first few new-hire classes........would I end up getting DTW or MEM for a while, because I assume that MSP is senior as it is God's Country?

Or could I get MSP right away?

I think there would be far better movement opportunities at Compass which will be MSP based.

That's true, but I am getting feelings that Compass will face some animosity w/ the other red-tail groups as they are brand new, w/ the greatest airplanes.

It bothers me why they had to even start it. I am not or never have been a red-tail pilot but they should've just gave the new ERJ's to Mesaba.

Perhaps its Northwest's plan to get more feeders to race to the bottom.

Lateral move to mesaba? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...what are you smoking?
They are looking for a saab fleet manager, for 6 months. Speculation has saabs going over to colgan, or big sky. Want to be a career fo at a regional?
Hope your wife makes a bundle....

Are you Freaking kindding me?

It's so much fun sitting on a Saab in January in MSP waiting for the pax. No external heat as the rampies are "too busy with 9E", no APU, temps soaring to 6F.

At least they have jetways now to keep the snow out of the plane. Ah, those were they days.

Saabs aren't going anywhere, until 5 years when you're in contract negotiations.

well, if you get the crj new hire, you will have a great msp schedule......which pisses us more senior guys off

I think YPF is right about the Saabs. 5 years or so 'til the threat looms on them. Compass is probably a better deal if you get hired in the first wave. There are still a lot of unknowns about it. Nonetheless, I'll bet there are plenty of Mesaba resumes over there right now.

Anywhere you go, there's a gamble. However, it looks like Mesaba will be Saabs and Jets for a few years at least. No one knows yet how many SF3 FO's are willing to seat lock themselves into Jet FO right now. Also unknown is in which city order the jet will come online.

The first couple of CRJs are coming to MSP. After that, who knows... If the first bunch come into MSP they will start putting new hires into MSP CRJ after whichever seatlocking FO's and furloughs take first dibs.

There is still plenty of attrition at Mesaba, too, as Captains and some FO's leave to much better places (NOT laterally).

If you're interested, you may as well apply. The future for the next few years will become more evident in the next few months. By the time a new hire class would start, more will be known and you can yea or nea at that time.

I'd have to say that I agree with the above statement. You might as well apply and see what happens. Nobody really knows how many furloughes are coming back, but if you are a new hire, your seniority will be close to those hired 2 years ago. The latest vacancy notice was for 50 FO's and it looks like they will be in recall/hiring mode for the foreseeable future. I've waited things out, because I'd rather stay in MSP than commute to another regional.

Funny. Someone took considerable time to tell me that there is no place better than Mesaba and that I am just a bitter former employee who regrets quitting. (WHAT A DOSE!) Like I really need someone to tell me what to think.

Anyway.......

When are the stretch CRJs coming?

I heard that the recent recalls and spin up for hiring is just for attrition/quiters, or are they already starting the CRJ training?

Any word about how Compass is going to play into all of this?

And what about the SAABs? I hear they are going to be replaced before the leases are due?

What do you folks think?

Good Luck!
