I see there is a provision for this in Section 13. Is this a realisitc option on day 7? Does travel work with you or is it completely up to you to find the alternate flight/fare difference?

It is all up to you to book the flight. You can tell the fm that you dont want to airline to your domicile/hba. They will tell travel to book you a dumby ticket and what the price would have been to get you to your dom/hba. You then are on your own to book a ticket that leaves after the company dumby ticket departure time. You then submit a receit with your expence report and the company will reimburse you up to the price of the dumby ticket. But if some thing happens to you schedule the last day, broken plane, last minite flight etc you could get stuck with a ticket you cant use. I have never done it but other people have tried it.

I'm assuming your with NetJets. I think you have to find your own tickets, pay for them yourself, let the company know, and then submit it as an expense, they will pay up to what the would have paid for a ticket to get you home (if yours is less, they only pay you up to that, if more, they only pay what the would have if you had went home.) Have never done it myself, hopefully someone with more experience can answer on the specific process.

It's pretty easy ...

I've done it once. Worked like a charm. The morning of the seventh day I told the Flight Manager I was going to get myself home. He said OK and they booked me a dumby ticket that basically told me how much I had to spend. Then I booked my own flight on the internet. I do know a guy that got help through travel but he found a cheaper ticket on Expedia. I checked in at the ticket counter and got a receipt. Turned that in with my expense report and never heard another word. No problems at all.

However, I would never use this technique to commute home if I was domicile based. I know some people have considered it but sure seems like it could bite you eventually.

first day

i have sucessfully done a first day start from a different airport.
i got the brief, called APC and quoted 13.9 of the new contract.
basically its says its all up to them, its not not required.
it was approved no problem, bty it was cheaper and i had less flying
to do to get to the assignment, hence a more rested pilot. at least they
bought it. if it was farther and more expensive, good luck.
i did have a late night flight booked back to my HBA which i just rolled
over for credit.
