wt219200, thank you for the replies, i'll be looking into them when i'm out there. Here's a question you may be able to answer... what's the "average" amount of time for a student to solo at West Air? Take into account the person in question has been doing the bookwork as well as the flying, and is intent on suceeding? Might seen like a dumb question, but im curious, as i'm at an impasse right now with my current instructor. I ranted elsewhere on the board about it, but i'd like your opinion from your viewpoint. Just a ballpark firgure, and how many students there pass the checkride the first time? Thanks.

Our students average about 15 hours to solo due to the heavy traffic volume, it takes them a little longer because of the radios. Most students pass on the first try. Idon't have an exact percentage for you though. Maybe 80-85% pass on first try.

Well, i am in vegas for my vacation, and as i said, i went flying at West air, Thanks Dan for a great intro flight.. walked around the mx hanger, saw nothing unusual, the plane was great, even tho i'm not used to the 172, and the view was incredible. Got a little intimidated by ATC since i'd never dealt with them, so Dan handled the radio... i had a great time, and i hope to be back in the air soon.
