The Hardrock Hotel, I believe, gives a crew discount. Great place as well, though a little of the strip.

Just called Hardrock.....399.00 friday night and 699.00 saturday night!!!!!! Thats Crazy!

OUCH!! Sorry for the bad advice. I remember it being about $60 or so with the discount.

Friday and Saturday nights are, by far, the most expensive nights of the week. (And if you're non-revving, getting out on a Friday and back on a Sunday is next to impossible.)

That said, you might check out The Stratosphere Hotel. Not quite on the strip, but it's a cheap cab ride, and a suite for Friday and Saturday nights, May 23 & 24, is a total of about $415. Not Mesa-cheap, but cheaper. (If you came on Monday and left Wednesday, it's a total of $76.)

Those who say Vegas is cheap as dirt during the week obviously haven't been to Vegas in the past few years...While Sun-Thur is generally cheaper than the weekends, the days of the $39 room rate is long gone. You can't even get that downtown anymore.

You're not going to find a "cheap" hotel on the strip. Average nightly room rate for a strip hotel is $299. (was on the local news last night)

If you want something less expensive, look for the so called locals casinos. Check out the Silverton, South Point, and Sunset Station.

The Tropicana is a flea bag and just filed Ch11. The only thing you'll get there are bed bugs.

If staying on the strip is a must, check out the web specials at the MGM, Paris, and Balley's.

If you just want a place to sleep, check out Hooters and Terrible's.

The Tropicana off the strip with the shuttle is the best rate I have found. It's about a 20 min van ride so plan accordingly when going out and don't expect speedy shuttle service either when you call them it's about 60 or so a night for airline crew. Good clean rooms comprable to holiday inn / best western.
The motel 6 on the strip is cheap, never stayed there though.

You mean like finding an empty airplane to sleep in overnight?

I must just be lucky then...last few times I've stayed in Vegas during midweek, I've paid $79 or less a night on the strip...and one night downtown for something like $42 all inclusive.

Even with the crappy economy, the hotels here are only down to an average nightly occupancy of 92%. That's only down from around 94% at the peak.

You can still get a somewhat cheap room downtown and at the Tropicana. Downtown hotels are old and smell, and the Tropicana is dirty and has a cockroach problem.

You're getting me all nostalgic for some of the fantastic hotels I enjoyed at CommutAir. My favorite was the Sleep Inn in BUF, where the carpet was so nasty, you didn't want to walk on it in bare feet. But if you wore white socks on it, they'd be black by the time you got to the bathroom and back!

The secret was to build a little bridge between the bathroom and the bed with all but one of the towels, so you wouldn't have to touch that nasty-ass floor... :puke:

On the positive side, free waffles... ;)

There are plenty of times when you can get good stuff on/around the strip for $30-$50 per night including The Excalibur, Hooters, Trop, Sahara, Strat. You will not get the Venetian or Ceasars or Wynn for these rates obviously, but if there isn't a huge convention going on, you can get dirty cheap rooms on the strip Sun-Thur nights.

If you say so...

Terribles Casino. Low end casino, $29 rooms on the weekdays $49 on the Weekends, Lots of old people, sh!tty buffet, next to the airport. Plenty of decent places to eat near by.

Thread update.... Staying in Vegas mid September. Any suggestions on landing a good rate on the strip? Can the FBOs get a good crew rate?? Planning on staying 3-4 nights. Thanks

Got 2 free nights and the 3rd for $40 at Bally's Monday to Thursday in August. Of course, I'm a Total Rewards member. That, my friends, is the trick. Stay at a hotel that has a program, enroll for the free card, gamble a little bit and you will get offers all the time! :)

The MGM rewards is a great progam to get enrolled in. Haven't paid for a hotel in Vegas since we joined and we gamble very little. They are giving us 3 free nights at the Aria and 2 free nights at The Bellagio and there are usually fresh offers coming in monthly. Buy a few nights at a cheaper MGM property such as The Excillbur or Luxor, sign up for the card and go lose a few hundred bucks. Have your girlfriend/wife play on your card....don't sign up for separate cards. Next thing you will see is free nights offers in rolling in left and right.
