Largest Flight School?

Flew into Vero Beach, FL for the first time the other night. Was surprised to see all the planes Flight Safety had. Didn't realize how big of a school (number of planes anyway) they had. I thought Comair/Delta Connection was pretty big but Flight Safety seemed to have more planes. Who is the biggest? Don't know how this would be measured. Speculate it would be number of planes and/or students. Not intended to be another PFT debate .

FlightSafety really heats up when the contract programs are in full force. The school's bread-and-butter historically has been the airline contract programs. When I was there in 1991-1992, we had contract students from Alitalia, Asiana, Tyrolean, Air France, Air Inter, Olympic, Singapore and Swissair. The Swissair students flew the Senecas exclusively. There was a great number of self-funded foreign students. Surprisingly, not as many American self-funded students as you would think. In all, we may have had 300-500 students twelve years ago. Now, I hear that FSI may have 100-200 students - because the contract programs are slow.

I don't know how many aircraft each Pan Am or American Flyers has. If you use their conglomerate size, I would say they would be larger overall than FSI or Comair.
