Apple iBook G4, 12 inch. Light, powerful, very reliable. Once you switch over you will never go back. I sat on the fence for years wondering about going to MAC, did last Feb. Very Happy!

You could also try Averatec. It's sold in a couple of sizes and at several retailers (BB, CC, WalMart)... And it's well-reviewed by PC Mag. It's small but not TOO small, meaning it has a reasonably-sized keyboard. It's not a powerhouse but it'll do anything you're likely to do with it on the road... And it's cheap, like $750-1000 depending upon the model. It's likely to be my next computer for the road if my Dell ever truly dies.
