What are 5 five ways to tell if your landing gear is down? Just curious of your thoughts......

Fly fixed gear and then you have plenty of ways to know if it is down

Gear Lever is Down and not red
Gear Down Lights (Three Green)

RVS (Revers System Not Ready) light comes on if props are back (On B200).

Prop Sync light on (B200) if prop sync is still on.

Mirrors

Flaps past approach setting will activate the horn on most A/C

Power setting, differs for A/C. Pull power back and see if horn activates.

Fly By the Tower.

Power surge on the amp/volt meter when activated.

Some landing lights or taxi lights are on the nose strut, you can use them!

Notice a pitch down moment, or increase in drag, decrease in airspeed.

You can switch bulbs in the indicators to find a burned out bulb, or press to test.

How about noise? I have never been in an airplane that wasn't much more noisy with airflow noise when the gear was down.

Most of that stuff will tell you if the gear is down, but not if it is locked.

Almost all planes have several ways to test if the downlocks are engaged, even if one of the gear lights is burned out. Your AOH/AOM will tell you.
