Cal cannot and will not complhy with the contract on all front pertaining to its pilots. they cannot even comply with the contract, or do what they say.

By the way there are over 500 applications on file with southwest airlines from continental first officers, because the conditions and pay is so bad at CAL, the first couple of years.

Cal has lost several new hires to better pay and insurance at other legacy carriers.

so all new hires beware of no life for several years or until a industry standard contract is achieved

Yeah I have wondered about that. CAL seems to be like a good company overall....except that initial pay/insurance just makes me wonder; do I even want to apply? Willing to work for a company with those decisions only gives them reason to not change. I do hope that with the upcoming contract negotiations that you guys get something back..

Pay sucks first year...actually the first few. The benies are a foul. I have been there less than 2 years and just missed 737 CA. The contract sucks, but it is 10 times better than a regional. The seniority and the potential rocks. What will you e saying IF we get a great contract and you could have had 1000 dudes junior to you insed of 2 years? That would be worse than no benies for 6 months and ********************ty pay year 1.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I guess you have to look at the bigger picture and realize these things. I did say in my post that I have wondered whether I should apply... In truth, I have applied for the reasons you mention...plus I would not mind living around the NYC area. I know EWR blows, but....

I have also been at CAL for less than two years. I love it. Yes, we are in a concessionary contract right now but that will definately be much improved in the next year or two. I am holding a great line (15-17 days off and most weekends off). We need to fix our PBS system but once you learn the system it definately gets better. We have a lot of new "blood" on the property and I am very optimistic about our next contract. A lot of the 1983, 1984, and 1985 guys are retired or soon to be.

I missed Captain by 4 months. Not bad if you ask me! CAL was and still is my number one choice right now despite the concessionary contract. Good equipment, people, and potential! Good luck to everyone.

Yes, the first year pay and medical benefits suck but it improves yr after yr. My life has been just fine the last 2 years. As far as new hires leaving, that happens everywhere. Young folks are always looking for better opportunities, that is nothing new. The other legacy carriers only started hiring recently so most of the "new hires" are already in their 3rd year so the pay and bennies aren't bad. We will hopefully end up with a new contract sometime that will improve a lot of the problems we have. The fact of the matter is that there are worse places to be (I certainly have worked at a few) but all in all I am very pleased here. Every place has its unique issues, you just make the best of it. The infusion of new faces here should help to improve the working conditions and help to make our airline one of the better places to be. My quality of life is pretty good right now compared to some of my former employers(AAA, PanAM, ATA)to name a few. Do the research, make an informed decision and move on. There will be lots of movement here for many years to come so it should be a good place to work.:)

Sounds like there are still a fair amount of more retirements to come...I am glad to hear you like it there. I have wondered about PBS, are there hopes to change/improve the system with the next contract?

With all the new blood, most of the pilots have been through at least one contract at a previous carrier. The group of pilots who "helped save the company" is getting smaller and smaller with retirements. It is a great pilot group and management seems to be going a good job with growth at a reasonable pace and finding profitable markets. Just need to fix the contract!

But you can be a 767 Capt in only 4 years based in EWR, and live in Allentown, PA. Sounds good to me....?

Bye Bye---General Lee

Not sure when you last looked but I just looked at it twenty minutes ago, bidding is open for November training.

Maybe they will actually train a few people. I was off for eight days (last four of July and first part of August) and was in Europe for a wedding. My voicemail was full when I got home and it was partlly to the fact that scheduling left 8 messages for junior manning opportunities!

and I have 23 days off a month, 15 weeks of vacation, every weekend and holiday off, and make $400,000.00 a year. You been talking to my neighbors again?

Yeah right, not at CAL. You wish.

Not unless you work for FedEx or UPS maybe.

Nice try though big boy. LOL

Jesus H Christ, Pocono, you're so stupid it hurts my head. Did you ever hear of a thing called sarcasm? Look it up in a dictionary, or maybe Google could help.

You seem to be quite retarded, or perhaps just a freakin' village idiot. Go play on Myspace or something, maybe swap love notes with your BFF. Do something, anything else except post more of your nonsensical drivel here.

Oops my bad.

But you never know with those CAL boys, so cut me some slack. hehehe

The General likes to take jabs at everyone. It's easy to do behind a computer.

That doesn't look like a jab to me. It seems he can't believe how fast it takes to upgrade over there. And, this is an anonomous board, right? I enjoy his witty banter.

People bash Pocono because she thought CAL was the cats meow until she got turned down, now she acts like it's the worst place in the world, and that she never wanted to be here. It's pretty easy to bash someone that childish.

How on Earth could you possibly know this? Oh, let me guess, you have a friend who knows .........

Wow . . . . I had to double-check to make sure I hadn't clicked on an "AirTran" string by accident, because this paragraph sums things up pretty well . . . at da Tranny.

I personally will not settle for an industry "standard" contract.

Back to topic, have you contacted your reps and/or filed a grievance?

Dumbest thing I have read on this board since poke-a-hole opened his/her mouth!!
