Anyone have experience or words of wisdom for a flight from Cyprus to Kuwait. ATC, etc? We're going to use Air Routing as the primary handling company.

Air Routing will take good care of you.

Before you depart, take the time to study the enroute charts. Pay particular attention to the ball notes associated with the fixes at the F.I.R. boundries along your route. Those spell out the requirements for contacting the next control facility prior to crossing the fix.

Other than that, no big deal flying in those parts.

We used to do that route quite frequently (maybe once a week, etc).

Always used UAS, 98% of the time everything went smoothly. Make sure you have all your permits!!!

Kuwait will give you the highspeed approach almost everytime you ask for it, so you can stay fast down low. (at least that was our experience).

Drawing aim, in Kuwait?...Nah...

Spent a lot of time wandering around Larnaca, we use to always go to a little dive-bar sorta place, across from the Lordos Beach hotel/Golden Bar Hotel....called Spyros Bar & Grill......run by a local cypriot with a jerry curl hair due, ask for a single gin, you get a triple, for the price of a single, all night. Tell him Jon from America sent you, he'll know.

Ocean front is nice, lot of cafe type places, good for people watching. Have fun.

Make sure you get some fried Haloumi cheese, It's awesome!!!!

Also, if you happen to actually shoot an approach to Kuwait, be aware that they have an approach ban.

I am obviously stupider than you, because I am not sure what you are saying. Are instrument approaches not authorized?

An approach ban is a term for not being able to continue the approach if you are above 1000' agl and you receive a new report, that the field vis has dropped below mins for the approach. If you are below 1000', and you determine that inflight vis is adequate, then you may continue. Similar to the FAA reg w/ a small twist.

I don't know how much wisdom is involved, but ten years ago, it was recommended to keep the wx radar on. It's like a white flag.
Take it for what it's worth, it's old info.

cypruss- Kuwait

You will be doing alot of radio work leaving Cypruss, talking in advance to Lebenon,Beirut and Jordon airspace, so know those reporting points in advance, after that it is all easy, good ATC, two long runways, you will probably be VFR, nice time of year, and no body is going to shoot at you. The Saudi's will have a weak signal at first, but after two handoffs from Jeddah ,you will be talking to Riyadh.

Spend as much time as you can in Larnica, Kuwait is like standing in an underground parking lot below Disney land with no way to excape.

You would be correct. And actually Limosol (sp?) is a tad better than Larnaca. But you really can't go wrong with either city. They are all filled with girls that just don't need makeup at all, and thats saying something.

The only heffers I saw were the British tourist women, jeesh.
