Yeah I sure did. Mesa has recruited to spamming e-mails for recruitment?

How do you say "shame, shame I tried but got busted on the unique spelling game" in Chinese???

Pay and QOL?

No way that's real.

Pay and QOL?

No way that's real.

It's real. I good friend of mine who works for wasinc called me about this. Here's what I got from him (you decide what's good and bad):

Mesa supplies the planes (20 CRJ 200's - no 700/900's) and will oversee the operation in the beginning.

Wasinc will supply the pilots - about 100 Captains.

Pay is $5700 net per month (take home pay after taxes and insurance), which equates to about $8500 gross per month or $102K annually. Take home after 2 years with the bonuses will be $145,800.

You must relocate to Beijing.

Housing allowance will get you a good sized apartment in Beijing and they are working with a relocation company to assist in finding a place to live.

30 personal days each year covers sick and vacation time.

He said it's too soon to tell what the schedules or route structure will be like (day trips, multi-day, actual days off, etc.)

To get the expat tax break you may only be in the US for a short time each year (he thought it's 45 days but he wasn't positive - any one know for sure?).

He seemed to think that they only wanted current Captains on the CRJ because training won't be much more than a warm-up followed by a PC.

He wasn't sure about a time frame to start.

I lost interest when he said I'd have to move to China for 2 years (I jokingly mentioned this to the little lady - she didn't see the humor in it!) so I didn't pursue it further. He wanted to transfer me to his boss to get more info, but I declined since I'm not moving to China.

Hope that helps - no flame intended with any of this just putting the info out there that I got to shed a little more light.

Much better things you can do with 500 PIC CRJ time (and growing) if you stay in the US for the next 2 years.

Avoid this like the plague. It's Mesa, without government oversight for god's sake.

Clearly, they're not getting any takers, because this is actually an improvement over their last offer.

And the few Mesa guys I've talked to who actually applied aren't getting released . . . Mesa has such high attrition they can't afford to lose anyone .. . ask yourself why everyone is bailing out of Mesa as fast as they can; both captains and fo's?

87 last month . . . 5% of the total Mesa pilot force bailed. On track for even higher this month.

-----> One caveat . . . if they're truly desperate, apply then negotiate your own contract. Shoot for at least $120,000k a year (but definitely not less than $100), plus all the other goodies. Then it MIGHT be worthwhile.

And Mesa is on the hook to provide pilots. Mesa certainly doesn't care about losing money, so they'll pony it up if they need to.

Yes well the forgot to tell you that you will support troop drops over Taiwan... Go and support your communist friends! hahahaha

Heard from a lot of pilot recruiting agencies that it's not easy for Americans to work in China. They are looked at very differently over there. Even heard that some of the Chinese pilots wear gloves while flying for the fear of getting germs. Not only that, they are not very cordial or social. $5700 does not seem too bad for the cash flow, but 2 years seem to be a little too long.

I think Kun Peng is Chinese for "Small Pecker".

I would think that Mesa pilots would be jumping at the chance to make that kind of bank. Guess I was wrong.

Besides, sleeping on a board inside an RJ (assuming the APU is working) is pretty good QOL in mainland China!

Chow Chi Bai!
