Thrust reverser failure? Debris on the runway prior to the jet veering off into the hangar.
I don't think a CJ has thrust reversers.
yeah, I meant to say thrust attenuators......Some have thrust deflectors I believe....
Yeah, those don't strike me as having much yaw authority. This airplane would have had attenuators as its a "straight" CJ2, but something went WAY wrong not involving the little flappy thingies on the back of the engines...
I talked with someone who knows people on the Santa Monica Airport Commission this morning. The number one theory is that the pilot was high, long and fast and tried to land when he should have aborted breaking off one of the main gears and then the plane veered off the runway and impacted the hangar. He said its speculatory, but is the number one theory presently.

On-scene examination of the wreckage and runway revealed that there was no airplane debris on the runway. The three landing gear tires were inflated and exhibited no unusual wear patterns. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) control tower local controller reported that the pilot did not express over the radio any problems prior to or during the landing.
Hmmmm? Possible break failure, is what I'm left with...
whats a "break" failure? or did you mean brake :erm:
