Operated out of Telluride in 900EX, in good weather granted, but had no problem. Leadville shouldn't be a problem except the width is going to make it look like a sidewalk. Ultranav says 43800 today, 5.4 2nd seg gross, no ice, good wx.
I was there March 2006. High elevation, narrow runway, but the valley is very wide and terrain seperation is easy if VFR. I was there in a Bravo. After dropping pax, we positioned empty to ICT. If we lost an engine, we could still make the climb gradient.
Only quirk we had was it was a warm day (+5C). When we went to Takeoff, we did a static T.O., the engines would not make N1 and temped out. The engines on the Bravo are quite derated. We elected not to takeoff and wait for it to cool a bit. As the sun went behind the ridge line, the temp dropped to 0C. Tried it again and had no problem.
Your pusing the equipment at these types of airports and never know quite what you will see. Beautiful Place!! Be sure to get your certificate from the FBO while your there.
If you want a peak at the weather before you leave, take a look at this... http://www.lakecountyschools.net/merchant.ihtml?id=285&step=2. The camera is from the school right across from the airport and looking west at Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive (the 2 highest points in CO and 2nd and 3rd highest points in the lower 48). The photos update three times a day, usually.
On a side not, I know a company that takes their two 900s in and out of this strip all the time http://www.airnav.com/airport/WS51. Granted the elevation is 9,000' higher at LXV, but you do have 2600' more of runway and it is 3' wider. Not to mention the -20C temps in the winter should help. Don't get iced up there or you might be there until May.
