I am going to be partly responsible for training someone in our 350 and I am wondering if anyone knows the correct power settings to simulate zero thrust. I will not shutdown an engine so any ideas would be great. thanks
 
Sorry, I don't know what the "0" thrust setting is on the 350, but I'm curious why you are unwilling to shut one down on a training flight?

Well I am just not a fan of shutting down a good engine in flight when for training an SIC just finding zero thrust should be good enough. Also my company doesnt want me to shut it down.

There is a chart that shows the torqe/prop RPM combination to achieve zero thrust.
 
It's amazing what a pilot can find when they actually read the POH, and I haven't opened a KA POH in 10 years ;-)

I am thinking may be he wanted to practice engine failure close to the ground (after t/o or single engine landing).

yeah you don't have to shut the engine down to feather it.
 
Feather away while the engine is running, looks weird and feels a little funny, but a fine way to get zero thrust.
 
So let's see, you are the CP or Flight dept. manager / single aircraft 91 operation and the boss wants you to do the check out? Does the insurance company buy off on that? How much experience do you have giving instruction on that aircraft, sounds like very little.:erm:
 
What does zero thrust have to do with making coffee and getting the newspapers?:nuts: :laugh:

This is not zero thrust, because there is a little thrust from the exhaust. In the -42 engine it's 100lbs, don't know about the 350's motors.
