A friend of mine was just diagnosed with his second case of kidney stones. First case was about six years ago. Has anyone had a second case of stones lately? If so, how long before you were able to get your medical back? I heard it can take a long time.

Kidney stones are the no.1 reason pilots lose medicals. I believe the criteria for reinstatement is that you don't have a stone and are unlikely to get another in the future.

Best to call Virtual Flight Surgeons for their professional perspective rather than advice from this BB.

I had a kidney stone and then a lithotripsy procedure. Does anyone know if my medical is affected by this? The stone was sucessfully blasted into many small pieces which I am passing pain free.
