Ok guys..

I have a friend working there now. Has never said anything bad about the company. He's been there for 3 months and started Metro II training this past week. This guy came from a shady single engine 135 company.. so anything would make the grass greener. I'm not saying that his company is the best thing around (no company is) but he said that they treat him all right, and has made some good friends doing it. I know they have had a bad history, and people have lots of negative things to say about them, but coming from him, and looking at stuff... it seems like they have tried to "better" the company. Now some one like IP076 probably had a choice between AirNet and Key Lime... now thats a dead give away on who you go with  but for someone that had no other options... you dont turn down the first "real" job offered... you can always leave.

Dead or alive?

What are some of you thinking?

If there is one, 1, yes one company in the USA with a bad reputation it has got to be Key Lime.

Oh, HAZ-MAT, the comment about no good company is not true.
I work for a company that does everything by the book, don't question write-ups and have safety as the number 1 goal; on top of that the pay is mid-range with excellent benefits. We are "just" a part 135 operator.

When someone hears "they suck" or "stay away" what is someone on the outside suppose to think?

I was looking for advice and 99% of it came from people that have never worked there. Trying to make an educated decision is hard to do because everyone has 'opinions'

Ever hear pilots tell you to stay away from thunderstorms!!!
Do you really think they've all been in one?

Dude, you've asked for opinions and you got them; what don't you understand.
Maybe the reason nobody replies that has worked there is because some of them are no longer with us!!!

But hey, good luck with the interview and you're right you can always leave, they might have good deals on bodybags.

Actually I didn't ask for opinions. I asked to hear from people that worked for the company. And I did get helpful info. Just so you know, every response that I got wasn't bashing this outfit.

Everyone of your post just 'took up space' on this thread.

I rented from the Part 141 operation (it was Part 61 when I started there and they got the 141 certificate just before I left) called Flights-Inc and never had a problem. Same crew that worked on the Key Lime planes did the work on the rentals, and it was always top shelf. Fueled their planes on the UPS ramp for 2 years at DEN, and met maybe 2 pilots I didn't like. Yeah, they've had a couple of run-ins and run-offs, but no one's been killed, and most have been minor. They had a streak of bad luck where they had a couple of planes blow tires on landing and run off the runway and another have the nose gear collapse due to a mechanical failure, then compounded by having a pair of them get together while taxiing out one morning. But like I said, nothing fatal, nothing major, always paid their bills (which is better than some others). I think the biggest tell about what kind of company they are is the fact that UPS keeps them around. Superior Aviation had one of their Metro's gear-up at Denver, and within 3 months, they had a grand total of 0 airplanes operating out of Denver for UPS. Don't know about other locations, but the UPS people in Denver told me that UPS wasn't happy with Superior, so whatever that ended up meaning.I always loved it when 0430-0500 rolled around and all the Navajos and 404s started up to warm the engines and do their run-ups. Always a good wake-up call to have all those pistons humming in near harmony.

Haven't spent any time even reading about Key Lime, so this is completely from a 3rd person point of view. The other day, 8/18, I was in KAPA waiting on the Tac Air ramp at about 1700. A series of Level 5 and 6 (yes, 6) thunderstorms went right over the field, basically covering all northern, southern, western and eastern routes out of the field. At around 1720, a Key Lime Metro asks the controller what his radar looks like (dude, it pouring sheets and lightning crashing everywhere). Controller states the obvious. Key Lime asks for taxi and takes off about 10 mins later, right into the middle of this crap.

Now I'm not the smartest or greatest, but myself (800XP) and 4 other planes, ranging from a G5 to a 182, all waited on the ramp for the storms to pass, 1 hour after his takeoff. In my opinion, not only was that takeoff completely unsafe, but the dude should not be flying an airplane for the sake of the people on the ground.

Thought I had seen alot in aviation, but taking off straight into a 5 and 6 storm with no radar is suicidal. It's not even funny to laugh about 5 days later.

found this after only 1 search on the NTSB website.

looks like a very professional outfit with safety as their highest priority.
