Well, Matt Kenseth makes $1 million tonight in the NASCAR All Star Race. It was quite exciting at the end as it was a real match between Matt Kenseth and Ryan Newman. Kenseth did a great job getting under Newman just enough (no contact) to cause him to get loose. He did this with three laps to go to win the $1 million!! Some good racing...that money should pay for all the cars that have gotten wrecked in the past few weeks for Kenseth. :D

Or the other cars his teammates wrecked tonight.:D
True story! :D They got into it with each other and caused 11 cars to crash. Roush was not too happy with his boys! You have to admit that Jeff Gordon had a pretty good run after getting caught up in that mess.

Kathy, the best part of the event was seeing Ken Schraeder get voted in by the fans. I wonder if NASCAR will recognize this as a sign that not every fan wants to see the teenage crowd?

Kurt Busch is on my official enemy list. Public Enemy #1 (Harvick) was right. Busch is rubberhead. Maybe Harvick's not so bad after all.

Gee I miss David Pearson and Awesome Bill,

Glad to hear you guys out west are catching on! The Winston (I mean the Nextel All Star Race, what a load of Sh*t), and the Coke 600 are what I grew up on in NC!

I am very, very bitter that Phoenix got a second race next year and Rockingham will be closing. Absolute travestry! The Rock was a very important place where NASCAR grew its roots and to so hastily throw it by the way side, tragic. Oh well. It happened to Wilksboro, then maybe Darlington, why not get rid of of Daytona and Talledega. Let's move every race to a place out West or the Midwest where corporate America can make the most money. Why not. Kansas City and Chicago and Vegas are all the same freakin track just a different state!

I'm just glad that the "Winston" didn't get moved to Richmond like FOX wanted it to be.

Yes, that was cool that the fans voted him in and he was very happy. Busch is dangerous - wrecking people on a straightaway? What an idiot. :( Sometimes I think Harvick gets a bad rap.

Very sad that Rockingham is closing. I also think that they should have retained the Winston name; but I guess everything has to be PC so these kids do not grow up thinking smoking is cool (hello, where are the parents to teach them this?)

I didn't really start getting into NASCAR until the past few years. I have a friend of mine who races Sprint Cars on a dirt track out here in PHX. I go out to the races a lot of Saturday nights at a track that was about 5 miles from my childhood home - Manzanita. We also go out to Central Arizona Raceway. I did a story on him for a magazine here in PHX. He has taught me a lot about the sport. I used to think it was totally mindless until he starting teaching me strategy and how much you have to use your mind to avoid killing yourself or someone else. We had a friend of ours flip his Sprint Car and get Air-Evac'd off the track.

If anyone comes to PHX on a Saturday night and wants to go see the dirt track racing with me, let me know. We go down in the pits with my friend. You have to be willing to be part of the Pit Crew though and not be afraid to get dirty! :D Nothing like coming home covered in clay mud!

Jmm, the reason I'm mad at Busch is that he is wasting a tremendous opportunity; he has one of the best cars and teams existant, yet he continually outdrives his brain. I would like to see him succeed. The man can absolutely drive the wheels off a racecar, but he does seem to be a little bit of a rubberhead.

Harvick......... his wife's probably a better driver than is he. He isn't the driver that Busch is, but neither does he equal Busch in boneheads either. If Harvick wasn't driving a black chevrolet, I might actually grow to root for the guy.:D

Wrigley23, as previously noted, I find it tremendously gratifiying that the fans voted Ken Schraeder into the race. I would hope that Helton and company will see this as a sign that fans exist who happen to be older than 28. For myself, I live pretty darn close to Texas Motor Speedway, but I haven't attended one event at the track. I refuse to support NASCAR when they are running away from my generation as fast as Brian France can take them.

As I get older, my attention span seems to be shrinking anyway, so I guess that I will eventually get back into the NHRA.

I'll note who will NOT be #1 when the season ends. As if any of this actually matters.

If Junior keeps publicly spanking his crew, and car, chiefs he mighty just end up out of the top ten entirely. I know that they are family, but I don't see how Dale can continue to trash their set-up choices/changes without negatively affecting the team moral.

You expect the driver to say, "The Bud/Snap-On/etc/etc/ etc. Chevy ran pretty good today on short runs. We kept trying to get better but were not able to find the best combination. The crew did an awesome job today and I need to thank the boys in the fab shop. We couldn't quite get em today, but we'll be back next week in the Bud Chevy, blah, blah, blah.

Instead, Junior said, My crew chief and car chief kept making changes until they took us completely out of the running. We had the best car in the first segment and they screwed it up. You'd think that they would learn to not screw up the car, trash, trash, trash. Cousin, or not, If I were Tony Eury (Sr or Jr), I'd let him know right now that the next time he spouts off, he gets his behind kicked.

Something else to think about. If they took a great car and adjusted it into junk,,,,,,,,,,might that mean that the car setup came from outside? One would certainly think that the crew chief who set the car up wouldn't adjust it the wrong way. I wonder if Mickey Waltrips set up goes onto the 8 car?

Would you like to make a wager on that one? Be assured that if if Jr. continues to be unhappy, p!ssed, etc, the appropriate changes will be made within his team to give him the best chance to win each race. He is free to say whatever he deems appropriate and he also has the freedom to make the necessary changes should that may be needed. Time to worry? I think not, once again one only needs to look as far as the current standings.

#8 will be fine...

Nothing would make Mr. Helton happier....and that's what REALLY matters, eh? The whole "sport" of NASCAR is totally flawed, and would take some REAL adjustments to make it worthwhile.
