hi all,

Some where on the web I red somthing about Kalitta Air. Kalitta Air recent purchase of a Boeing converted United passenger B747-400. Boeing is converting many ex-passenger B747-400's to freighter status. Is this true? And if this is true, how long will it take to see those planes working for kalitta. Maybe there is someone from Kalitta of anybody who can anser this one.

Thanks in advance.

     :crying: Thats the best and funniest rumor to date. Why would Connie spend millions on a 400 when he can buy the junk in the desert for pennies then make more millions.:D :D

I know.. Sound crazy that's the reason i post it at the foum. But that stuff out of the desert (those -100,-200's) are very noisy aircraft so maybe they wan't to buy newer planes for flying to amsterdam? In amsterdam they are very strict about noisy aicraft

The word around the campfire here is that 400s will eventually come to Kalitta. When that will happen is anyones guess.

When they sit in the desert for 20 years the time/price will be right. Connie is open to anything to line his pockets. Training, parts, mx support not to mention scheduling have to be factored in. The 400 rumors circulate occasionally, nothing ever comes from them, though I haven't heard this latest one.

First of all Connie would quit flying to EHAM long before he would buy a 400.
Second, If he buys a 400 I'll run naked across the ramp in YIP, straight into Connies office, Take a dump on his desk then then kick the crap out of his dog, light his Dragster's on fire, Poke his good eye out, Pee on MR's head, then Quit!!!! I Promise.

2050? Lets see that makes the first -400's built in 1990 about 60 years old....Wow! Thats older than the 35/25 y/o Classics KA is flying now.  :crying:

I don't know if you notice the link or the address of this news? But someone put the link in our website, and PMDG the suposed company that is doing the convertion from pax to freight, it's real and does exist. Just a catch, this are news on the FS world and if you guys are not familiar is Flight Simulator. Yes that one from microsoft they have a virtual world a part running paralell to ours, with virtual news, virtual airlines and virtual pilots of course with their virtual salaries too. So PMDG is specialized in add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator and if anyone go to their website they actually anounced that Kalitta is converting a 744.

Let's see now!! Does that make it a virtual rumor, or a virtual realitty, or just a virtuality of the virtual?? I am not sure!

Kalitta Air is only getting B747-400's in Microsoft Flight Simulator not in the real world.

I painted the PMDG B747-400 in Kalitta Air colors during a 5 day layover in Seoul.

This is where this thread got started, click the link above.

Nosewheel, I am still laughing at that Post....................now that is FUNNY...............

thank you CWI. indeed that was the site where it came from. but did you panted that kalitta for pmdg? That's great. but why are there cargo company's like martinair (from holland), they are about to dump the 742 and 743 to buy newer 744? what's the reason of that? kalitta is also flying with old ones is that's going perfect so why would any freighter company spend milions of dollars for newer cargo planes?

My guess would be for heavier lift, more reliability, more efficiency, and less money spent on training/crewing. I know the latter doesn't seem like much, but it really does. Most 747 classics crew at least 4-6 crews per plane. Figure in a low $40,000 salary x 6 ($240,000), initial and recurrent training costs, benefits, payroll taxes, etc. and it might save a company half a million per plane a year. If the contracts are there it makes sense. Look at Atlas, Cargolux, etc.

Ok! That was the answer where I was looking for. thanks

Connie is in this world to make as much money as he can in the shortest time. He has three Dragtsers to play with among other toys.

He has and will again put a 747-100/200 in the air starting from a scrap heap in the desert for a half a million $ or less and fill it and fly it 24/7. Why would he even consider buying a 400.

Not to mention the maintenance or anything but several years ago when we flew the L-1011, Connies MX took the most beautifull clean and very low time machines and turned them to Junk in no time. Things happened that Lockheed had never believed or seen happen to a L-1011. I cant imagine what a 400 would look like in a year or two.

His upper management and screw scheduling cost him millions a year due to incompetance and that will never change therefore, that blows your theory about the training cost's, wages etc. (no insult intended).:)

Its Ypsi-Tucki mentality. Get it? :smash:
