Been j/s on RJs alot, but do the mainline guys let you sit in first if in uniform when there's a seat available or do they make you sit in coach instead? Thanks for any info on this.

Alot of airlines will try to get you in first class. Its not like it was a few years ago though, more often then not first class is filled. Unless your going international its really no bigge and if you are going overseas some of the cargo airlines cant be beat as far as confort and catering.

UAL and DAL AWAYS let me sit in first when there was a seat. CAL is a different story. Sometimes the CA will try to help you out and ask the lead FA is you can sit in first. Often, it gets overridden. Pathetic.

I (and my fellow crewmembers) only seldom get business when travelling on a ticket, even in uniform, even with tons of frequent flyer miles. Different story on foreign carriers

I was j/s in coach the other day and there was another pilot in the back. We were both off line jumpseaters. Well while we are taxing the guy saw a open seat in first and just got up and moved up there without asking or anything. The FA said nothing to him. We checked in at the same time with the gate and the captain. I was in awe, not only at what he did, but that the FA did not say anything to him. Seemed like a good way to lose the j/s privilege for the rest of the pilots at your airline to me.
