Hey man, I just did this exact flight twice in the past few month (in-laws live there). The easiest way I found was to just check in as a non-rev online or at the ticket counter and then to request the jumpseat once the gate opens up...about 90 minutes before the flight. This was really the only way to do it leaving LHR. Taxes from ORD-LHR were about 17$. For my wife coming home, LHR-ORD, about 200$. None as OMC. England screws the tourist.

Enjoy your trip......the pound sucks and its one danm expensive city, but a great place........PM if you have questions.

Clarification.....DL flies out of GTW, Gatwick.

Right, Gatwick is where NWA, USAir, Delta, and some American flights go out of. You could also go up to Stansted and take MaxJet home. Nothing quite like gauranteed business seating. Of course then you'd have to get from JFK or Dulles to wherever you're trying to end up. Good luck affording food there. All the prices have the same numbers in front of them, but they're in pounds, so it's twice as expensive.
