Once you have an airline ID and are in the CASS (cockpit access security system) computer system then you can walk up to any checkin counter and ask for the jumpseat. You will be verified with your passport and given some sort of paperwork that varies for each airline. Sometimes you are assigned a cabin seat, sometimes told to expect the cockpit. I always had trouble with CAL as an offline jumpseater, seems their procedure is too complicated for most of their agents. Always introduce yourself to the captain, required at many companies, proper protocol at the others.
