I was wondering what the jumpseat dress code is for CHQ flights? I plan on asking for a lift later this evening. Thanks in advance!

Tuxedo. No really, they've let me on with a good pair of slacks and abutton shirt with no tie. Darn, I wish they'd put that 170 somewhere Iam going, I have got to try that thing out!

Well, that depends. Male or female? :D

Bad pilot! BAD pilot!

Seriously, what acaTerry said. Helps if you have your uni, but that's only as far as security and the gate is concerned. Personally, I really don't care as long as you have your ID and all the other legal stuff. But you're just fine with nice shirt and slacks.

A friend of mine tried to jumpseat on Big U and was told he had to shave first... Which he thusly did. Our airline doesn't prohibit pilots wearing a mustache, but apparently Big U does.

I think you'll find that most captains in the regionals, especially, will let you get away with slacks and a Polo shirt. Usu. jeans and t-shirts are a roadblock, but that's YOUR fault for trying to bum a ride looking like, errr, a BUM.

I've found life is much easier if you simply travel in uniform. You get to the head of the line at security and there's never any question about whether or not you are dressed appropriately.

I used to travel in uniform, but I like the "invisibilty" you have instreetclothes. I make sure I am appropraitely dressed though.
UAL made the guy shave? Wow. I was talking to a UALguy just the other day with one of those "cowboy" mustaches that goesdown at the lips. Gotta say that he looked like one of thoseold-days pilots. I thought it looked presentablethough. Not poorly trimmed or anything like that. Infact, I think it looked pretty neat. He was a swell guy too.
Anyway, did your freind try to go with a goatee? That seems to bepopping up all over the place. Or perhaps he just finished astandup overnight and was on the way home. Facial hair has a wayof sneaking up on those.

Thanks for the reponses all! I'll go with Khaki's and a polo shirt, it seems to be the standard now-a-days... I remember having to buy a tie in LGA a long time ago to ride on Air Tran. Since then I believe they have relaxed that rule! I agree with you on the simplicity of traveling in uni, but I agree with ACATerry about going incognito being best! I still flash my ID and get moved to the "crew" line. Thanks again, and I hope to make it on tonight, sure glad I don't have to commute anymore!

I like leaving my uniform where it belongs when I travel to work, in my overnight bag. I leave my flight bag in my domicle that way I can totally go stealth when I fly to work. Its all up to the captain really. you never go wrong with buisness casual. I have never jumpseated in uniform and have never been asked once about it. Not having to wear the penguin suit anymore while traveling is a huge plus.

You got that right, its amazing how well leaving your uniform in the bathroom during your shower will remove wrinkles. And I don't even have a flight bag to carry anymore... But using a Pretty Neat Things bag tends to ID you! Even without a crew tag!

I always take mine off first, but I guess your killing 2 birds with one stone by washing while dressed.
