Has anyone ever had a jumpseater come on-board with a beard or goatee? What is the official line on facial hair if they're dressed appropriately?

A friend of mine (really!) jumped on UA with some longish stubble. He was informed by the crew that he would have to shave if he wanted a ride. They claimed it was an FOM requirement for them.
