For you other regional guys...

Do the mainline pilots have priority on your jumpseat? This scenario using eagle as an example, AA guy and Eagle guy show up for the jumpseat on an eagle bird. Does the AA guy bump off the eagle guy? That's the way it is at 9E. Man I love this place. I can't wait to tell my co-worker that he's S.O.L. cuz I need to get a mainline guy to work. Seeing how they 'own' our airplanes and all.

At ExpressJet, we take priority on our aircraft. If a CAL guy has the seat and I walk up 30 min prior, I get the seat. If on a CAL flight, I have the seat and a CAL guy walks up with a smug look on his face 15 minutes prior, he bumps me out and laughs all the way down the jetway.

Comair is unlimited, but ya'll prolly knew that already.

Hello,

I've jumpseated with Indy and Shuttle America. Great bunch of folks and I thank them for the rides home...FYI we at Colgan will take all that we have open seats for.

On two occaisions I've been on a CAL plane with multiple offline jumpseaters.
Captains did whatever they could to get us on.

Chautauqua takes their own pilots 1st as priority in the physical jumseat. Then the mainline "colors" can fight for it.
Unlimited and then some for us.

In my experience 99% of the DAL pilots will burn a pass to get you on.

No such thing as "burning" passes w/Delta as it is unlimited.

Anyway, I jumpseated on Skyway and Mesaba last weekend and the folks there were more than accomodating! they were more than happy to give me a ride.
I hope I will have the chance to return the favor soon........If you're reading.....Thank you!

Heyas all,

While I agree that unlimited jumpseats are a great thing, those of you who say "just bitch to the Chief Pilot" are naive.

The only thing the Chief Pilot does is put his signature on the dotted line. Decisions like this at most majors are made much farther up the food chain, and usually are held for negotiations as a "quid".

Sucks, but that's the way it is....

I have had a miserable time trying to Jumpseat on Delta. I was trying to go LGA-BOS and got treated like a piece of dirt by the gate agent. If I ever get a delta guy, I'll let em ride, but you bet your butt I'm gonna let him know how I was treated. On the flipside, jumpseated on SWA a few times and everyone was just awesome. Gate agent, Pilots, F/A's. It was a total pleasure. Hey, maybe thats why they are making money and Delta, well Isnt?

Ego-boy,
Yeah...you show those Delta pilots, tough guy. Maybe you are...dirt. Nice 1st post.

It's not the Delta pilots fault the gate agents are troublesome. Trust me, gate agents are the bain of every jumpseat committees' existance.

Thanks for the pat on the back spanky. I was a little nervous about the first post. Cuz of touchy sensitive fella's like yourself. I was just making a point about how the entire company makes the airline. And I think pilots should know what kind of impression there fellow employees are making. I know my little chat with some grizzled old delta mainline guy probably wont make a difference, but I hope somebody would let me know if a representative from my company treated them like i was treated. I take pride in my job and company, and I think people should be treated with some respect. Especially a pilot respectfully asking if the jumpseat is available. I can only comment on personal experience, but riding on southwest has been far more pleasurable then riding on Delta. And maybe im not the only who feels that way, and maybe thats why Delta's going down the pooper at mach speed, and SWA keeps making money at a tough time. What does that being my first post have to do with anything anyway? What, I cant possibly make any valid points until I have as many posts as you.

As many as we can fit at Skywest, welcome aboard!

The SkyWest jumpseat policy specifically limits the number of jumpseaters per flight to the number of actual jumpseats installed in the aircraft. However, additional jumpseaters on a given flight may be admitted at the discretion of the Captain provided seats are available in the cabin, and other revenue or non-revenue passengers are not affected.

And I'd say 99.9% will take more, IF they know someone is needing a ride. But that .1% will deny anyone - yes, I've been denied by one of my own airline's pilots. I was even doing my FAA required observation time. Luckily I was at a hub so just walked over to the next counter and went somewhere else.
