Judge throws out Mesa countersuit
Friday December 8, 8:43 pm ET
Mesa Air Group, parent company of interisland newcomer go! airlines, had its counterclaim against Hawaiian Airlines rejected today.
Hawaiian (NYSE: HA - News) is suing Mesa for allegedly using proprietary information it gained as a prospective buyer during Hawaiian's bankruptcy to unfairly compete in the state's interisland market.
Phoenix-based Mesa (Nasdaq: MESA - News) responded later with its own counter-suit, claiming that Hawaiian was suing to illegally stifle interisland competition.
But U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Faris disagreed in a ruling issued Friday. He also set Sept. 25, 2007, as the opening trial date for Hawaiian's suit against Mesa.
