I have a conundrum for you. I have my brother's golf clubs in the back of my car in PHL and I need to get them down to RDU... Can I check baggage (such as the golf clubs) when JSing?

Dude, take them to FEdx and ship them. that way they are guaranteed and you won't have to deal with them at your destination. Last time I checked my clubs, my driver and 5 iron were broken. (mine, however were in a soft case, but they must have been thrown off a 3 story building to do that kind of damage.)

Become an FFDO, tell em its your gun bag!

didn't have any probs with mine, if you have a soft travel case, wrap the club heads in a few towls and tape them tight

When you check luggage they mark it "standby" and only load it when you get on the airplane. If you get on at the last minute, your bags may not so make sure you politely ask the gate agent to let the ramp crew know you got on. I learned this the hard way.
