I'm currently evaluating putting some PT6A's on JSSI's Complete engine care program.

I've never put an engine through overhaul, but I fear its kind of like buying a house or making a baby, in that you're just not aware of all it entails until you actually do it.

In the spirit of avoiding ugly and expensive surprises, are there any costs associated with an overhaul NOT covered by JSSI, that I'll end up bearing? I've heard two horror stories of owners being stuck with six figures worth of overhaul-related expenses, when they had been believing that the hourly rate would cover everything.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Suggest you contact Specialty Turbine Services, STS. STS is an overhaul consultant, they will manage the whole process for you and save you a TON of money. We just used them for our -41s, although really expensive, 325K ea, without them it would have been well over 400K each engine.

You can take the plane to them for engine removal or they will come to you. Its a little cheaper to go there, Butler County PA. He can probably get you a good deal on rentals as well.

Send me a PM if you want more info.

I know I guy that had to pay for turbine blades due to the fact that it was obvious he ran the engine way to hard.. Every blade on the turbine wheel had to be replaced.
