[font=verdana, arial, helvetica]It does not look like JO has long term plans with USAir by releasing a statement like this. The old saying "you don't bite the hand that feeds you" may have come into play with Airways.

PHOENIX (Aviation Daily) - Regional flight operator Mesa Air Group might tie up "with an existing low-cost carrier and create a low-cost hub operation," CEO Jonathan Ornstein tells Aviation Today. "Charlotte might make the most sense," he said. While he wouldn't name prospective partners, sources with Mesa's pilot union suggest AirTran, Southwest and possibly JetBlue are likely candidates. "I have long been known to say hub operations work, with the caveat they have to be low-cost operations," Ornstein said. One thing that's been shelved for now, though, is Mesa's plan to buy 737s and feed them at a hub (Charlotte or elsewhere) with its own fleet of regional jets. He cited Mesa's inability to negotiate pay in advance for the pilots who would fly the 737s. "It is preposterous to put a plane on line and not know what the costs will be," Ornstein said. Mesa currently operates feeder flights for US Airways, United and American.

This JO sounds a lot like Lorenzo. The above quote is a complete falsehood. JO appears to be more interested in breaking pilot wages than running a profitable operation.

JO has also taken credit for the Continental turnaround. He says it was him that came up with the "Go Forward Plan", but Gordon Bethune got the credit for it.

And I doubt that Southwest would be stupid enough! To join in with Mesa Airlines. Probable FLYI who knows!

hey mesa now flies for american!

must only be in STL though.....

FLYI has no problem with RJ feed -- except it has too many RJ's. Not to mention 800 pilots on furlough.

Chance of a Mesa - FlyI deal = 0.00000001%

AirTran tried the RJ feeder deal and dropped it. I doubt we will try the same thing again.

Hey, Capt Overs - Whats wrong with mesa feeding AWA? The contract it good through 2008. And dont give me a stupid answer. I have been on the Mesa aircraft. the 900's are nice

are you high?!?! as a pax in any CRJ product the seats are all garbage. this is why many are moving to the 170. mesa should feed AWA as they helped them out in the early 90's.

Are you high? E170 vs CRJ900 - 900 is an older designed aircraft. Thats like compairing first class in the 777 to first in the 757. You can argue all day about which one is the better. I want to know why Capt Over thinks AWA should drop Mesa.

The best RJ is the one that you dont commute to.
