A friend of mine told me that if you fly for DB forget about any QOL.

Remember...DB is an FBO...working for an FBO is not for the faint of heart, but QOL is what you make of it.

DB is not just an FBO, they are also a management company, offering charter aircraft from that portfolio. Usually the charter side of the house has nothing to do with the FBO side of the house. Atlantic Aviation is a good example - no connection between the two sides of the business whatsoever.

True, pilots don't pump fuel or turn wrenches, but I think DB is a lot closer in structure to the FBO I fly for (also aircraft mangement, sales, etc.) than to Atlantic. Staffing is by no means excessive. When there's work to do, you work.

Although I think they may actually have "days off"
