Besides strictly an airline/region pilot, what kind of jobs can an aviator expect to be on the market for when he gets out of the military? I'm wondering because I may not want to be away from home as much as the pilot career demands, but I still would love to stay in the industry. I do want to make a decent living. I'd like to know what else you can do with military flight training and experience besides actually flying? Thanks for any input.

Aviation related jobs, post military, are many. It all depends what route you take in military aviation. I can think of numerous positions out there, from the FAA, to Boeing, Lockheed, etc, etc. The further you go in your military career the greater the opportunities. If you’re a General they come knocking on your door. If you are an AF Fighter Weapons School graduate there are many opportunities out there too. Actually, these days, those jobs have more stability than flying for the airlines…..and you can be home every night.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping it would be something along those lines. Looks like the market will be fairly good even if I don't want to be a pilot. Thanks, and if there's anyone else out there, chime in!
