A few years ago I chose to leave aviation for unavoidable reasons and am now trying to get back in. I have plenty of quality time and experience but I am now finding that even in todays enviroment people are remiss to hire somebody that has been out of the cockpit for several years. Can anybody provide a clear vision of what I should do? Positive input much appreciated.

I would suck it up and take a regional job for 6 months to get current again. Use em and lose em baby!

Plenty of quality time

Could you give us an idea of what, "Plenty of quality time." is.

Personally I think charter/corporate is the way to go. Better QOL, benefits and we get all the girls.

That wouldn't be a bad idea, except that you might find it tough it break into corporate with your 'airline stink.' Were/are you a CFI? Flight instructing would be a good way to build your proficiency again.

BTW: My company hired a BE400 copilot a few months ago who had been out of aviation for 5 years. But she is a busty blonde, and I'm guessing you're not. ;)

Thanks for the replies. No, I'm not a busty blond but they have more fun! And luck. What I meant by quality time is Part 135 background, about 4000 tt, 2500 ME with 1100 jet and turbo-prop (mostly jet) mostly as SIC in jet/turbo-props, maintenance background, CFII current but mostly un-used over past years.

Do you think the regionals would take me( I'm 50)thnking of going to a simulatorplace and getting reved-up on procedures. I am open to all realistic ideas and comments. Corporate would be great, EJA would be OK also. I would even take a job at a 135 gig again if I could find a reputable operator, thing is they are few and far between. Thanks.
