Sounds fishy to me or It's just another fish tale....

AIRPLANE AND OCEAN SPOTTER PERSON WANTED... Person with sharp eyes and a keen sense of sef-preservation wanted to assist SWORDFISH SPOTTER PILOT from running into other airplanes and water. Needed around Avalon, Catalina Island, California during May thru October, mostly weekends with some midweek flying depending on weather. SPOTTER will receive 35% of my 35% of the catch, you will also take care of 35% of fuel and aircraft costs. Does the FBO accept a hunk of swordfish for payment?

I'll have to see if my landlord will accept a hunk of swordfish for rent.

Next time I put gas in my car, I'll see if the Texaco station takes a hunk of swordfish.

In the fishing industry most employees are paid a percentage of the catch. No this does not mean you get a trunkful of fish. The fish are sold to a wholesaler and the proceeds are split among the vessel owner, skipper, crew, and in this case the spotter.

Could be a fun business if you had a single engine that was cheap to operate. Too bad I sold my Luscombe! You'd want to buy some safety gear. If you ended up having to ditch you wouldn't be in the water very long. Lots of commercial and pleasure boats out there during the season. A handheld marine VHF would provide you with aircraft to boat comm.
